Powerpoint permette di produrre presentazioni multimediali sia tramite videoproiettore che su lucido. Per leggere una presentazione Powerpoint non disponendo del software usate il Powerpoint Reader, scaricabile liberamente dal sito di mamma Micro$oft. Per realizzare presentazioni esistono anche strumenti OpenSource, ad esempio l'ottimo (e gratis) OpenOffice

Per Linux è anche disponibile KPresenter, che fa parte della suite di strumenti KOffice
